Contracts

Non-watertight contracts and hazy agreements are a breeding ground for distrust and disagreement. Or they can be the cause of long and costly legal proceedings, often with uncertain outcomes and financial loss. You can avoid all of that. Don’t embark on contract negotiations until you are fully aware of and can correctly estimate all the legal risks for your company. After all, you can’t manage risks that you can’t identify! Makes sense, doesn’t it?

Carefully considered contract management is worth much more than you would think at first glance. After all, if you adhere to the statutory framework and don’t overstep the bounds, you will not be prone to running any legal risks.

But do you know what these bounds are? Our legal experts do. This goes without saying. They have built up many years of solid experience and know-how in this field, both in Belgium and internationally. Additionally, they consult regularly with their colleagues, who are specialised in other legal disciplines, such as tax, finance, etc. Bottom line: as a multidisciplinary team, they get to the bottom of the risks and pitfalls of your agreements and put each party’s intentions on paper, in clear and understandable language.

Proactive and flexible

Once an agreement has been signed, contract management has a second key objective: ‘getting what you agreed’. In other words: enforce your agreements properly and prevent any value from seeping out of your agreement. Be proactive and make sure that the other party is meeting its obligations under the contract. Or, if necessary, refine the contract with additional agreements and clauses - of course without jeopardising the excellent relations you enjoy with your trade partner (customer or supplier) in any way. Our legal experts are here to help you incorporate this flexibility into your contracts in advance, and in doing so, exclude any unpleasant surprises.

If, despite all of this, you are still faced with a conflict or have to enter into negotiations, don’t worry. Our legal experts will help you to limit the impact (also on your image and reputation) to the absolute minimum.
